On May 11th, 2008 after a couple days of heavy down pours Engine 10, Ambulance 10, Rescue 1, and Boat 7 were alerted for a water rescue. Units were dispatched for one vehicle in the water with one occupant, in the area of Lee Highway on Baldwin Street. Engine 10 and Ambulance 10 arrived on the scene on Baldwin Street in the area of Jamison Farm subdivision, with one vehicle occupied once. The compact car was traveling toward Lee Highway and was 60 feet in the water away from Company 10’s crew. The water was to the bottom of the rear bumper, and over the top of the hood of the car. Company 10’s crew started communication with the occupant, who was uninjured, just stuck. Chief 10 arrived on the scene and established command. Tower 1 was special requested to do a pick from the basket if needed. Rescue 1, Chief 10, and Tower 1 positioned on the Lee Highway side. Communications to the occupant of the car was made through dispatch to advise the occupant of the incident action plan. Boat 7 arrived on scene and the crews walked with the raft in hand from the shallow side and assisted the occupant out of the car to awaiting Ambulance 10 for check out. Patient was released with no injuries. Fauquier County units ran multiple water hazards/emergencies through out the night. Multiple roads in the New Baltimore and Warrenton areas were closed down due to high water. A reminder to all citizens; If you can not see the road due to high water, DO NOT drive through it. Obey ALL road closure signs.
